Many general surgery procedures now utilize minimally invasive approaches. With over one million cholecystectomies performed in the U.S. each year, more than 95% are performed using a minimally invasive approach.21 More than 450,000 appendectomies are performed annually with over 80% done laparoscopically.1 Other general surgeries, from reflux procedures to ventral hernia repair, also have accepted minimally invasive approaches, which can be made less difficult and more efficient to perform using certain procedure-enabling devices.
At Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc., we remain committed to the support and advancement of minimally invasive approaches because of the proven benefits for surgeons and patients alike. In fields like general surgery, where minimally invasive approaches have already made such progress, we continue to look for ways to improve our devices based on input from surgeons around the world. Together, we strive to make minimally invasive procedures faster and easier to perform, as well as safer and more effective.
We make a range of devices and solutions that may be useful for your general surgery procedures.
