Step 1: Awareness
Discover new surgical technology and techniques by accessing our online educational resources

  • View procedural videos, including hand-assisted and laparoscopic right colectomy, left colectomy, and lower anterior resection (LAR)
  • View videos on innovative product technologies, including ECHELON FLEX™ ENDOPATH® Staplers, HARMONIC® Technology, and ENSEAL® Devices

Step 2: Knowledge
Broaden your knowledge through interactive and hands-on demonstrations

  • Use computer-based simulations demonstrating the ergonomics of minimally invasive colorectal surgery and correct port placement for optimal access
  • Examine “Case Discussion” videos discussing specific techniques and approaches for minimally invasive colorectal procedures

Step 3: Skills
Advance your skills through virtual and face-to-face programs guided by expert faculty

  • Attend the Minimally Invasive Approaches to Colorectal Surgery course
  • Attend the Laparoscopic Approaches to Left Colectomy and LAR course
  • Participate in an EES Colorectal Academy Program that includes an intensive focus on minimally invasive techniques and faculty-facilitated lab experiences

Step 4: Confidence
Achieve confidence in new technology through preceptorships/proctorships (small group or one-on-one) and advanced clinical and practice management support

  • Work with a highly skilled minimally invasive colorectal surgeon in an OR preceptorship or proctorship
  • View video on CPT Coding for the Colorectal Surgeon
  • Attend a Peer Learning Group meeting at a society conference
  • Review colorectal surgery reimbursement fact sheets

MINIMALLY INVASIVE APPROACHES TO COLORECTAL SURGERY

  • Learn about minimally invasive colectomy procedures, including patient selection, surgical techniques, and management of potential complication
  • Designed for colorectal and general surgeons who currently perform some laparoscopic procedures and at least 25 colectomy procedures per year

LAPAROSCOPIC APPROACHES TO LEFT COLECTOMY AND LAR

  • Learn about laparoscopic left colectomy and low anterior resection procedures, including patient selection, surgical techniques, and management of complications
  • Designed for colorectal and general surgeons who currently perform some hand-assisted and/or laparoscopic procedures, and perform at least 50 colectomy procedures per year

FELLOWS IN MINIMALLY INVASIVE COLORECTAL SURGERY

  • Topics include minimally invasive approaches to colorectal procedures, managing complications, practice development, and a review of the safe and effective use of devices used in minimally invasive procedures
  • Designed to assist colorectal fellows in the transition from fellowship to practice
