How do I submit a funding request?
Click here to access the Funding Requests Application for the type of support you are requesting. Enter your name, email and phone number. Review and accept the Privacy Policy. Then click "Submit Initial Request".
You will receive an email with a hyperlink to the actual application. Click the hyperlink to complete your request. Complete all information on each tab (Program Overview, Contacts, Payment Detail, Terms & Conditions, Review). Review your application and adjust as necessary. Once you have completed the application, click "Submit Request for Approval" for review. Save your hyperlink to view the status of your request.
Do I have to submit a funding request using the online funding application? Or can I use a different method?
No, all requests must come through the on-line funding request application.
Can I save a request in progress and return to it later?
Yes, be sure to save the email with your hyperlink. Your funding request will remain accessible for 30 days. During that time, you may edit or update your request at any time until you submit the request. Once the request has been submitted, you will not be able to change it.
When I try to submit the request nothing happens. What do I do?
This may happen if you submit a request that is not complete. The program will take you to the record that is invalid or incomplete so you can correct it. Re-review your request. Invalid or incomplete information will be indicated in red. If Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. (EES) systems are temporarily down, you may also receive a system message. You may send an email to fundingrequest@eesus.jnj.com or wait a few hours and re-submit.

I can't find a match for my institution in the institution search fields.
Most requesting organizations are available through the search function. Enter the name of your State and only a key word or unique string for the name of your institution. The name may be slightly different, we will adjust for differences during submission. You may create a new institution if nothing appropriate is displayed during your search.
How will I know if my request was successfully received?
Once you have submitted your request, you will receive an email validating the receipt of your request. Save the email. You can use the enclosed hyperlink to check on the review status of your request. The status will be one of the following:
How can I contact EES if I have a question about the application?
Please do not contact us for status inquiries – use your url to check the status.
If you are experiencing problems with the application, please send an email to fundingrequest@eesus.jnj.com or call 1-800-943-8201. An EES associate will contact you during business hours of Monday through Friday 7:30 AM - 6:30 PM EST/EDT.
Will EES contact me if my request is not complete?
No, you will not be able to submit an incomplete request through the application as you will receive an error message that your request was not successfully completed. The program will take you to each item that is invalid or incomplete; missing information will be highlighted in red. In some cases, EES may request additional information after the online submission is completed. In these cases you will be contacted.
Will EES let me know the result of my request?
You will receive a letter whether the funding is approved or not.
How long will it take to receive a decision?
Review of educational grant requests can take up to six weeks depending on the complexity of the request. Investigator-Initiated Study requests can take longer. Actual payments are not made until all agreement paperwork is complete.
Will other organizations be able to view my application?
No, the only access to your application is through the secure hyperlink in your email. If you lose your hyperlink, contact EES as indicated above.
Can I submit multiple requests?
Yes. Each request submitted separately will have a unique hyperlink and request identifier.
Can I submit one request for a program with multiple events?
One application may be submitted for a series of the same program. Unrelated programs or differing types of requests should each be submitted separately.
Can I submit an idea for a program before all planning is finalized?
No, only complete submissions will be accepted and reviewed by EES. EES does not pre-review applications.
How does EES decide if my request is approved?
A multi-disciplined review by EES associates outside the commercial sales and marketing organization is performed and results communicated.
Can EES co-sponsor an event with a CME provider?
No, the CME Provider is responsible for the CME program and its content. EES abides by all guidelines of the ACCME concerning commercial independence of a CME provider. All payments are to the CME provider unless the CME provider designates another organization in the request.
Can I request more than one type of support (e.g., technical support, as well as funding)?
Yes, you may request any or all of the following: technical support, study funding, EES devices. The request must be fair and according to fair market value for each of the requested forms of support.
What areas may receive a grant from EES?
Currently areas of support include, but are not limited to: minimally invasive and general surgery with a focus on bariatric, colorectal, OB/GYN, ENT, thoracic, breast health, NOTES, plastic and gastric specialties. EES also supports programs on anesthesia, health care economics, programs for allied health professionals, and programs focused on advanced medical technology.
How far in advance of the study should I submit the funding application?
All requests should be submitted a minimum of 2 months prior to patient enrollment to ensure sufficient time for application review and, should the application be approved, subsequent contract negotiation and finalization.
May I submit a request for a clinical study that has already been completed or terminated?
No, IIS grants cannot be used to support clinical studies that have already taken place.
