At Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc., we never forget we’re all in this together. That's why we unite people from around the world to listen, learn and collaborate for the greater good. We have global educational institutes that encourage the brightest medical minds to meet and share insights. And we’ve built entire support teams and online communities to help patients long after their surgery is over. Because, after all, we're stronger when we stand as one.
Making a difference.
Teaching the teachers.
As healthcare costs soar, school districts are having a harder time controlling their costs. They want to reward their best teachers and keep them in the classroom, where they can do the work they love. But school districts also know that their teachers depend on them for the best possible care.
By collaborating with groups like the Colorado Business Group on Health, we've had the chance to work with businesses and schools to educate them on the benefits of minimally invasive procedures. These procedures reduce the costs and recovery times of open surgeries, while enhancing the quality of care delivered.
In 2006, we worked with Colorado Springs School District 11. We met with administrators and teachers about the benefits of minimally invasive procedures, so they could make informed decisions if a procedure became necessary. Since then, the district has saved more than $600,000 in medical costs and co-pays. They also got one of their best teachers back in the classroom in less than two weeks after her procedure.
The money they've saved is money they use to make their schools even stronger. In the words of administrator Ken Detweiler, "Every dollar not spent on healthcare goes straight to the classroom."
